Remember a few months ago, when I introduced you to Kelly Colburn and Kaela Garvin, who wanted to create a show about two young Hapa women livin’ the dream of becoming actors in New York? Well, they raised enough funds to put their series into production and now 2 Girls, 1 Asian is streaming on YouTube. I watched the first episode, “I Enjoy Being a Girl”, which introduces us to the main characters and their lives of ramen noodles and auditions. One of the fun touches in the show is that the characters’ parents are played by Colburn’s and Garvin’s actual parents, who are both Asian-white interracial couples.
There are four episodes so far, including the Super Musical Dream Episode, with send-ups of show tunes from Disney, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Wicked. New episodes will be unveiled every Thursday night at 9 p.m. EST on YouTube through the middle of July. Check out the 2 Girls 1 Asian channel on YouTube!
