The long days of summer are upon us, and with a mid-afternoon karate lesson preventing me from taking a day trip with my boys, we decided to hit a matinee showing of The Karate Kid. I have deliberated about seeing this movie more than most viewers, and I was surprised by what I liked — and didn’t like — in the film.
I was thinking the Karate Kid remake might be a fun movie to take my kids to see this weekend. A bit of Hollywood fluff to start off the summer —especially with one boy who’s already a yellow-stripe, and another one who’s been asking to try martial arts.
Remember that kid who was always picked last for the team, and then everyone else groaned when she had to be on their side? Yup. That was me. And I don’t want my kids to ever be in my gym shoes.
