One of the most exciting brands I connected with at the BlogHer ’11 Conference was Clickin Moms.
Back when I was a kid, my dad was the one who hauled around his Konica in a big leather bag and took all our family pictures. My mother did not ever touch a camera, until point-and-shoots came out. But I’ve noticed an interesting trend in my generation. It’s usually the moms who carry the camera — and not just some little pocket model.
Because, you know, I am one of those moms. I don’t bother getting a seat for the school musical (because I plan to be crouched on the ground in front of the stage) and the possibility of being hit by an errant soccer ball is so worth the money shot of my six-year old scoring a goal.
But I still have many technical questions about how to best use my dSLR, and as I get more into photography, how to best import, edit, and store those precious images. That’s where Clickin Moms comes in. Unlike some other photography communities, Clickin Moms is run by moms for moms. No attitude, no creepy old guys posting photos of scantily clad girls.
Since I’ve joined Clickin Moms, I’ve found a wealth of forums, online classes and even special deals for everyone from beginner to pro. Now you can join, too…
Clickin Moms is giving some special prizes for HapaMama readers:
The First Prize winner will get:
- A one year membership to Clickin Moms ($50 value)
- A copy of “Blast into the Blogosphere,” an image rich eBook filled with tips to help beginner photographers create beautiful, more memorable photos ($29.99 value)

Hi Grace!
I’m just starting to research SLR cameras and want to invest in one… so this book would really come in handy as I begin to learn about photography. I have two beautiful girls who deserve better than my lame little point and shoot camera.. and I can’t wait to get started!
Love your website!
All the best to you and your gorgeous family!

I would like to know how I can capture those cute shots of kids quickly and make it look professional, too. Right now my point and click camera has a delay so my daughter will do something cute, I press, the button, and by the time it actually takes the picture, the moment is gone.

It was wonderful to meet you at BlogHer, Grace! Love this: “But I’ve noticed an interesting trend in my generations. It’s usually the moms who carry the camera — and not just some little pocket model.” So true! Can’t wait to get to know you — and some of your readers! — even better over on CM.

Yes, isn’t it? I just spend the weekend at a church family camp, and most of the people taking photos were women!

So glad to have stumbled upon your website. Yes, I need a lot of tutorial of DSLRs. I got an entry level DSLR camera and I really don’t know how to use it correctly. Need any help I can get!

I was able to put together a clumsy babybook for my firstborn. My second and third have only folders on my laptop, filled with unviewed, unappreciated, far-from-reaching-the-potential-of-the-fabulous-moment shots. Thirdborn (4.5 yrs now) recently viewed Firstborn’s book and told me reproachfully, “You forgot to make a babybook for me, and now I’m not a baby anymore!” I had no reply. No defense, as to why I couldn’t even put together a clumsy attempt. Well, perhaps as they are not now babies anymore, I might be able to find the time to create a book. But it is you, HapaMama Grace, who can give my kids the possibility of having a “Beyond Clumsy” Childhood Book, if you would choose my comment as your contest winner. And, if the gratefulness of three Wu-Cardona girls is not enough reason for you, I have one more… tomorrow (Sep 6) is my birthday. :)
