The blogging world’s biggest event of the year is just a few days away, and I’m excited to announce that I’ll be speaking at a couple sessions at the BlogHer ’12 Conference in New York City. There’s a lot of talk about the parties and the swag, but I’ll let you in on a little secret: the seminars are where it’s at. That’s where like-minded bloggers share tips on navigating the Internets, gaining more exposure, and improving their writing and photography skills.
Here’s the details on the programs I’ll be leading:
Honoring Your Culture, Celebrating Your Commonality
Friday, August 3, 2012
2:45pm-4pm
Do you write about issues that shine a light on your particular ethnic, religious, national or cultural identity? Do you share your stories in order to build bridges to a wider community? Join bloggers from a range of backgrounds who both celebrate their identity and write far beyond it. Discover how they make it work, personally, editorially, and professionally. I’ll be moderating a discussion with Carol Cain, Sabrina Enayatulla, and Kristin Russo. You can find more information at BlogHer.com
Effective Opion and Commentary
Saturday, August 4, 2012
11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
The Writing Lab
Writing (and successfully placing) effective opinion and commentary pieces takes more than just being opinionated. Come get tips on sharpening yours, so you can make your voice heard farther and wider. The Writing Lab is a new feature at BlogHer ’12, where seasoned writers and editors will be sharing tips and giving feedback in small group sessions.
Hope you can stop by one of my sessions and say hello!
