The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center has a fabulous photography exhibit on its website right now. It’s called A Day in the Life of Asian Pacific America and features images all taken on the same day.
On May 10, Smithsonian APA Center invited people from all over the country to capture images of what daily Asian American life. Of course, the photographer in me had to participate in this!
Initially, I was hoping to make it up to the Taiwanese Cultural Festival in San Francisco, but a day full of kids’ activities including a 5K race and a Little League game kept us in the ‘burbs. But as I look at these photos, I see a slice of modern Asian American life that is probably pretty familiar to a lot of people.
You can view all the photos at the Smithsonian APA website, and I’m excited to announce that one of my pictures made the cut. Scroll down to see all the images I submitted to the project:
I liked this picture so much, I also processed it in black and white.
You can see all the images taken by photographers around the world at the Smithsonian APAC: A Day in the Life group at Flickr or by searching the tag #LifeAPA on Flickr or Instagram.

Thanks for participating in A Day in the Life of Asian Pacific America. Wonderful photos.
I’m checking on the effectiveness of our outreach efforts. How did you hear about the project? Was it easy or hard to upload the photos? Any suggestions on what you’d like to see in the final exhibit?
Many thanks,
Eddie Wong
