Guess what? I’m in The New Yorker! Or at least a cartoon character that says things like I would say is in the magazine. My cousin Amy Hwang drew this cartoon after we spent an afternoon shopping at the LL Bean store in Yonkers, New York. They don’t have any shops on the West Coast, even though Californians like to brave the 50-degree temperatures in gear like North Face fleece jackets. Perhaps the Maine retailer’s New England vibe is too preppy for left coast hipsters. But I there’s something about wearing a corduroy barn jacket that makes you feel ready to chop some wood — or at least drink a pumpkin spice latte.
