My kids had Fall Break this week, which often means we are looking for something to do. Luckily, we received a pack of the new Disney Store Elite Series action figures for #ForceFriday. These are the new characters from the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which will be released on December 16. Rogue One is described as a stand-alone series in the Star Wars franchise, and it takes place before the events of the New Hope (original 1970s-80s) trilogy. I’m looking forward to the multicultural cast, which includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelssohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed.
Now through October 21, Disney is holding a contest in which fans can submit their own short videos for a chance to win a trip to Lucasfilm in San Francisco to attend a screening of Rogue One and to see their own story on the big screen. And there’s a special category for kids aged 8-12.
Besides the new action figures, we also dug up some of HapaPapa’s vintage Star Wars toys from the 1970s…
Like this X-wing fighter…
Or this Tie-fighter…
Seriously. My in-laws saved these things (and more) for 40 years. You should see my garage. *sigh*
This is our first venture into making a more fancier video, with stop-action, green screen and music and titles, with a few iPad apps so we’re not done yet.
