Noooo…. not Hello Kitty! Everyone’s favorite Sanrio icon is the subject of Avril Lavigne’s newest single. And the cringe-inducing video includes expressionless Harajuku-style backup dancers, gratuitous Japanese words (arigato! kawaii!). Lavigne tweeted “I love Japanese culture” but I think she’s clueless to the effects these kind of images have on Asian American kids.
