It’s spring… and time to do some housecleaning — even for HapaMama.
I’ve been blogging here for almost two years now, and it’s time for some updates and changes. Sometimes I feel like I’m grasping for a neat little category to fit into: Mommy blog, Asian blog, Christian blog, consumer blog, literary blog, photo blog, social justice blog… but none of those labels feel completely right. So here I am, sort of a mish-mash of various thoughts and ideas.
What kind of topics do you find really strike a chord?
Do you like shorter and more spontaneous entries… or the longer and more thought out kind?
Stories from my personal life or discussions about things happening in the world?
More pictures? Less pictures?
Here are some changes I have in mind:
- Streamlining the graphics (I think the graphic intensive background makes the site load up slowly on some platforms. Does that happen to you?)
- More interactive options: ie, polls, Twitter, Facebook etc.
- Reviews of books, blogs, etc. that I like
- Guest bloggers (yes, you!)
What else would you like to see here?
If you know me in real life, you know I am not the most tech-savvy person. In fact, it’s nothing short of miraculous that I managed to get this site up and running (thanks to the help of Eddy Shahin at In-Sight Design!) It just goes to show, you can teach a not-so-young dog new tricks. You just have to try.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing your comments!

I love your mix of topics — don’t think you need to “pigeonhole” yourself into one area! Even though you blog on diverse subjects, there’s always a connection that runs through the posts. Keep it up!

Grace,
Knowing you in *real life*, I know what a multi-dimensional person you are….So I vote for the varied topic choice. Sometimes the issues are macro and sometimes they are micro. Most of the time they seem to overlap. That’s life.
Also, belated Happy Easter to all of you!

I discovered your blog through Beno’s website, and I like all the different topics you hit upon. My husband is white, and it’s kinda good to know the issues we’ll be dealing with with our future kids.

And I just realized I spelled my own sister’s name wrong.

Thanks for checking out my blog Jeanna! And its nice to hear feedback from everyone. Sometimes, I doubt whether I’m wasting time and energy writing all this stuff… and if anyone’s reading.
But I’ll keep on keeping on… since writing HapaMama is something I truly find enjoyable and fulfilling.
