If you’re expecting a baby in 2015, chances are it’ll be born under the Chinese zodiac sign of the sheep (or ram or goat, depending on who’s doing the translating). Chinese New Year begins on February 19, marking the year 4715 in the traditional lunar calendar. All the babies born between February 19, 2015, and February 7, 2016, will be considered sheep under the traditional calendar.
So what kind of personality will your little lamb have? Some superstitious people believe that the sheep is the unluckiest sign, prone to meek personalities. In fact, last year there were news reports of couples in China trying to time their conception so that their children would be born in the first six weeks of 2015, when it’s still the Year of the Horse, popular for its image of strength and auspiciousness.
But I don’t put much stock in those superstitions. Maybe it’s because I’m a Gemini, and I like to see both sides of every issue. Or perhaps its because I had always been taught that there are no “good” or “bad” signs under the Chinese zodiac system, but that like people, every animal has its strengths and weaknesses.

If I had been a native Chinese, I probably would have tried to time my conception so the baby was born in the year of the horse too. However, there is a lot that can be said for someone with a mellow personality.
